About the Journal

Kinephanos is a bilingual, interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary academic online journal, which studies the issues affecting popular cultures and media. The journal focuses mainly on films and television series, video games, emerging technologies, as well as fan cultures. The articles we publish explore questions about image and sound in popular culture through different approaches, especially from film, game, media and cultural studies, and humanities.

The journal proposes regular and special issues. Regular issues proceed by CFP and are sometime coordinated by guest directors. After the selection of proposals, the texts submitted by the authors go through a double blind peer-review process. Special issues can be conference proceedings or a selection of the best papers at scientific events. In the latter case, texts are also subjected to a blind peer-review process. For each issue, experts of the specific theme are invited to contribute. It should also be noted that in one case or another, each issue is edited by guest editors (whom also choose the theme of the issue), either from a rotation among the editorial board, from members of the board of reviewers or from external guests. If you are interested to propose a thematic issue, please contact us.
